What is a Historical Sync?

This article will explain what a Historical Sync is and how to use it.

Note: When doing a historical sync, please be aware that the sync does not sync based on webinar date but by subscriber date.

In order for you to capture data accurately, you must first make note of when you are trying to capture data. There are two scenarios:

1. A Full Historical Sync

In the case that you are missing data or you have set up your integration after you have already run webinars on your channel, you will want to do a historical sync.

Please make note of when a subscriber first joined your channel. This can be found in your Channel reports tab. Go to the last page of the Audience tab to see when your first-ever subscriber joined.

Set the date accordingly in the Connectors tab.

The sync will push data on your channel starting from the date you selected. You have now completed a full Historical Sync!

Note: By clicking 'Advanced Settings', you can choose which specific object you would like to push data for. We recommend at least Subscribers and Subscribers Activity

2. Data specific to a webinar

Remember that you cannot choose to sync based on only a webinar, but if you would like all data related to a specific webinar that is possible.

Go to the Content reports of the webinar in mention and find when a user first registered to that webinar. (Detailed in below screenshot)

Navigate to your BrightTALK Central Connector account and do a historical sync based off that date.

This will ensure that you capture all pre-registrant data associated with the webinar as well as any viewing data that happened afterwards, such as live viewing and recorded viewing data.

Important: Scenario 2 should only be done if you feel that you are missing data for a specific webinar. Otherwise, the hourly sync will have synced data for you automatically.
